Joshua surprised Mommy and Daddy when he stood up behind his Tonka truck and started walking across the room. Matt and I looked at each other and said "Did he just do that?" So Matt turned him around and sure enough, he walked back across the room. After that Daddy grabbed the camera and the rest is history. Enjoy our Button's latest accomplishment!

Scooter
Joshua is getting stronger and stronger. He crawls all over the place. His motto these days is "Why go around when you can go over?" He's climbing over everything, generally landing head first as that noggin makes him top heavy. One of his favorite games is climbing over daddy or mommy. Also he's still pulling up on everything. He's even getting bold enough to let go with one hand to look around. He's not "cruising," but it's only a matter of time. One of his teachers at daycare told me a funny story. She said they have nicknamed Joshua "Scooter" because as soon as the door opens he stops what he is doing and speed crawls to it. If they aren't quick, he makes a jail break. Even with his unique style he's mighty fast.
Here is a picture on Joshua sleeping. He's doing a great job of falling asleep in his crib and sleeping through the night. His favorite sleeping position is hiney in the air. Too cute!

Well Baby check-up
Joshua had his 9 month well baby checkup today. Daddy took him to the appointment and totally got off easy. Joshua did not get any vaccines, just a toe prick to draw blood. Well I'm glad it wasn't too bad for either of them. Here are his stats:
Length: 28.5
Weight: 18lbs 2oz
He was a little amenic so the doctor prescribed some iron vitamins and recommended Joshua eat more meat and rice cereal. This will be a challenge as Joshua dislikes meats and rice cereal. Usually he will gag until he throws up, crying pitifully all the while, when we feed him these foods. Oh well, we will work with our little boy.

Nine Months Old
Joshua is now nine months old. My happy boy is growing and growing. Here are some of his likes/dislikes and what he has been up to lately.
1. His favorite food for snacking is Gerber Graduates lil crunchies, aka cheese puffs. He chews them with his gums and hits his hand on the table when he’s ready for more.
2. He has 7 teeth coming in now, four on top and three on bottom. He is not very happy about it, but orajel seems to soothe the aching… so does crunching on cheese puffs (see above).
3. He likes to “play ball” with you. He slowly raises the ball over his head and throws it down which causes the ball to bounce towards you. Often he’ll clap after performing his magnificent feat.
4. He really enjoys listening to his mommy or daddy sing. He’s fascinated by “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “Row, Row, Row your boat,” “You are my Sunshine” and more. Also he loves playing “Peek-a-boo!” He giggles endlessly. Singing is still a handy trick when changing his diaper.5. He is getting so fast crawling, though he still has a unique style. He curls his left leg under his body which makes it look like he’s dragging a leg. However he uses this leg to boost him up when he’s pulling up onto chairs, the couch, mommy, daddy, etc.
6. He’s doing more talking now. There’s a lot of copying so if you say “Ooooh!” he’ll say “Ooooh!” back and forth. It’s endless fun. Also he can hold an entire conversation simply by grunting.
7. Joshua is interested in the dogs. He enjoys watching them and going after their tails. Hardy’s a good sport about it, though Ridley tend to seek higher ground.
8. Joshua pitches a fit whenever I start to strap him into his carseat. Once he’s secured, he’s fine, he just doesn’t like having to leave your arms to sit in the seat.
9. Joshua is a messy eater. He’s constantly turning his head, slapping the spoon out of your hands, and smashing whatever food falls onto the tray in front of him. It’s a good thing he enjoys bath time, too.Okay this didn’t make the top nine, but it’s a fun. The other day Mommy and Daddy took Joshua to Chet’s for dinner. Joshua tried some cheese grits (a side staple at seafood restaurants in Florida) and loved them. He took several bites and really liked it. It was probably the most textured food he’s ever had so we were glad he liked it.

Happy Mother's Day/ Congrats Jason!
Matt, Joshua and I traveled to Birmingham over the weekend to see Matt's brother Jason graduate with a BSME from UAB. It was an exciting occasion as we are all so proud of Jason. We had great seats at the ceremony and afterwords went back to Jason and Morgan's for some dinner. Joshua enjoyed playing with his cousins and getting sweet hugs and kisses from his Grandottie, JerryPop, and Grandaddy. Congratulations Jason!
Happy Mother’s Day! I spent Mother’s day in Birmingham and Milton as we traveled back to town. Joshua made me the sweetest card at daycare with a happy picture of him saying “Peek-a-boo!” Then he gave me another card on Mother's Day. He is quite the thoughtful boy. After church, we had lunch with my family and hit the road. Joshua was mighty fussy, having used up all his sweetness over the weekend. We were all glad to get home. Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers I know.

My aunts
Joshua's Aunts, Celeste and Elaine came for a visit over the weekend. We had a great time shopping, playing and eating out. Joshua saw a balloon up close for the first time. We found some great deals at the Tanger Outlet mall. Joshua showed off his new ball throwing skills (see video below). It was a great visit and he missed them when they were gone.

Let's Play Ball
Joshua is now getting all four teeth across the top of his mouth. He's been chewing on everything a little grumpy about it, but I would too if I had that many teeth coming in at once! Also he has learned to throw a ball. He has a small ball which he'll raise over his head and throw at you and then clap his hands while you return it to him. He's surprisingly good at this. He must get this from daddy because mommy was never that talented when it came to sports. Enjoy the video!
