One year pictures
I took Joshua to have his first birthday pictures. He was not a happy camper. He was tired and got frightened early on by a noisemaker meant to get his attention. You can click on the title of the blog entry or click on the link on the right hand side of the page to check out his pictures. As you'll see, he recovers by the time he's in overalls and has a blast with the cake. Is it me or does he look like he's sporting a Santa beard by the end?

Beach Vacation
*This was my favorite picture that I took of Joshua. I call it his GQ Baby Cover pose.*
Joshua and Mommy just got back from a family vacation with the Goforths. He spent lots of time with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts Celeste, Elaine, and Stephanie, and Uncle Chad. We had a little excitement as Tropical Storm Claudette formed overnight and came ashore over Seacrest, FL where we were staying. It brought some rain and wind, but the weather cleared up and it was a great vacation. Joshua didn't mind being in the water as long as someone was holding him, but he would not stand on the shore by the ocean... maybe next year. He was so relaxed bobbing in the ocean (being held by his Aunts) that he actually fell asleep. I don't think I could do that. Also he tried to eat a handful of sand and realized it's not very good! He seemed to enjoy people watching in the pool more than the actual pool. Of course that could be because Mommy was hovering over him trying to keep him from drinking the pool water (gross!). Joshua did a lot of growing and exploring on our trip. By the time we were back from vacation our little Jaws had 3 more teeth -- that's a total of 14. He also perfected climbing up stairs and easing off beds. It was a great trip. Vacation is always fun, but it was also great to come home. We missed Daddy!
I'll post more beach pictues later.

1 year check up
Joshua had his 1 year check up today. Here are his stats:
Length - 30in (50th %)
Weight - 19lbs 15oz (10th %)
He’s a lightweight, but Dr. Hensley is not concerned about that because Joshua is healthy and developing well. He’s got 11 teeth now, which is 3 to 6 months ahead of schedule. Dr. Hensley was impressed with Joshua’s vocabulary. He says “Mama”, “uh-oh”, “go”, “Dada”, and “dog-dog”. He repeats “Mama” well, but when prompted to say “Dada”, he normally says “dog-dog”. The doctor was also impressed with Joshua’s pincher skills with his thumb and forefingers. I think that is 3 to 6 months ahead of schedule as well. And Joshua’s been doing that for at least a month already, though. His naptime was interrupted by the appointment, so he didn’t show off his walking skills because he was tired. He had four shots and a toe-prick to check his iron. His iron level is now where it needs to be, so no more iron supplements. Yea!! Joshua cried when he had the shots, but calmed down immediately when Mommy picked him up to hold him. He is such a good little boy.

Happy Birthday Baby!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR JOSHUA,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!That's right, our button is a year old. Look how much he's changed! Joshua has changed our lives in the best ways possible. He is a sweet, cuddly, smart, precious little boy (allow this proud mama a moment to gush)! We went to Bham over the weekend and Joshua had a wonderful birthday party surrounded by family. It was a perfect day. I'll post pictures from the party soon. Here are some fun facts about Joshua.
* Joshua has 5 words in his vocabulary: mama, dada, uh-oh, go!, and dog-dog
* Joshua walks more than he crawls - I'll miss his unique crawl when it's gone
* When he go to a Japanese restaurant, Joshua prefers that we feed him with chop sticks
* While Joshua goes to sleep in his crib, lately he's been waking up between 2-3AM
* Joshua is our little Jaws, he has 8 teeth up front and 3 molars coming in in the back of his mouth. Ouch!
* Joshua is much more interactive with the dogs, especially Hardy. He'll pet him, poke him, and follow him. Luckily for Hardy, he's quicker than Joshua.
* Joshua likes to point at things, usually followed by "Go!"
* Joshua is still our sweet cuddle bear who loves to snuggle, be held, giggle, and blow kisses.
