Easter Pictures
Joshua went to have his 7 month/ Easter pictures during the week. And for those of you who don't want to read the play by play, I have posted the link to the pictures on the right hand side of the page under "Joshua 7 months." Now back to picture day... Our photographer actually uses live chicks, bunnies, and a lamb. It was a cool experience. I wasn't sure how Joshua would react. We started with the chicks and Joshua was amused. He smiled at them and watched them and eventually became brave enough to grab at them, though he never caught one. Next came the bunny. He was less than impressed. The bunny was very soft and calm, but Joshua still didn't like him. As soon as he looked down and put it together that this furry critter was in his lap, he got very concerned. Next the photographer brought in the lamb and Joshua looked at bit skeptical so the photographer recommended we talk up the lamb as a puppy. I told Joshua "Look at the puppy! What a good boy..." Joshua got excited and started pulling on the lamb and cooing. It was really sweet. Overall our little man did great. The biggest surprise came when I propped him up against the chair and he held himself up. Joshua has held our hands, but never been propped and stood on his own. Little man is growing up!

Family Visit
Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Chad came for a visit over the weekend. It was so good to see them. We went out to lunch at a restaurant in Pensacola overlooking the sound. It was fun for all. Even Joshua showed off his "perfect baby" status being a sweet baby boy at the restaurant. Thanks for coming for a visit!

A New Word
Mommy is having to teach Joshua a new word. As you know if you've followed the blog, Joshua has two bottom teeth coming in. He has recently started biting his mommy while nursing, or rather when he's done. It was a really shocking thing the first time. Why would my sweet baby boy attack with razor sharp teeth? Well after consulting the great moms that I know, I am trying a strategy of sternly saying "No," then packing up lunch long enough for him to get what is going on (this was about 10 seconds - I know, I'm a softie). I'm not really sure what a baby can learn, but so far this seems to be effective. It was weird saying no to Joshua the first time because it's not something he's ever heard. Hopefully this will work and my sweet little man will be good.

First Trip to the Beach
Mommy and Daddy took Joshua to the beach for the first time over the weekend. The weather wasn't great, but we made the most of it. It had been beautiful all week and then rained/showered all weekend. We actually sat in the car at the beach waiting for the showers to stop long enough to take pictures. The silver lining was at least it wasn't too bright so Joshua could see the beach.
We started out on a sand dune where Joshua was fascinated by the sea oats. Mommy was afraid he'd lose his balance and roll right off the dune, but he never did. A couple times, Joshua did grab handfuls of sand, but he didn't try to eat it, just looked at his hands as he felt the texture. I must admit though, if I'd given him more time in the sand I'm sure it would have gone in his mouth.Joshua didn't seem afraid of the ocean, but there were waves crashing on the beach and the closer we got to the ocean, the tighter Joshua's grip on his mommy became. He was interested in looking at the ocean but better than that was the breeze. He seemed to like the wind in his face. And I must mention what a great job Daddy did taking all these pictures! Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!

7 Months Old!
Joshua is seven months old today! He's changed so much since August. I'll update you with what he is like. He's become quite chatty. Also he loves watching people, especially his mommy and daddy. He's become more interactive at daycare. When I come to pick him up in the afternoons, he's often sitting on a mat with his classmates playing with toys. It's so sweet. Then comes the best part when he looks up at me and grins. He is such a happy baby. He smiles all the time, especially if he sees he has caught his mommy or daddy's eyes.
He is very interested in his hands. I often catch him twirling a hand in front of him. It's like he's thinking "Wow! My hand is so cool the way it moves!" He likes grabbing his feet. It's a bonus if there is a sock he can pull off to expose those yummy toes. This is still a helpful game when I'm changing him, but now for an extra challenge he likes to twist so he can grab at the basket where I keep his diapers and lotion.
He enjoys playing with his toys on the floor. He still likes to ooch around on his hiney, but recently if we place his pacifier far in front of him, he will stretch and ooch trying to reach it. He'll go so far as to fall forward and get to a crawling position to get what he wants, but then he rolls onto his back. He loves playing in his exersaucer. Matt and I often place him in it when we're having dinner. We ask him "Do you want to work?" because he is serious and busy when "working" in his exersaucer.
Joshua is still not much of an eater when it comes to baby food. To be fair, we haven't practiced as regularly as we probably should. Matt and I will keep working with him so I'm sure it will catch on. Joshua's two bottom teeth are coming in. They are so small and cute and also really really sharp!
I'll end with one last story. Joshua enjoys having books read to him. It is especially cute to watch Matt read Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What to do You Hear? because after he reads the opening line, Joshua looks back at his Daddy with a huge smile as if to say "what's next?" Matt will smooch his little head and read the animal's sound then turn the page and say "Elephant, Elephant, what do you hear?" and Joshua looks back with that big smile and so on and so on. It is very sweet!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!
We took a trip over the weekend to Birmingham. We got to see all our family which made the weekend a great trip. First of all, Joshua got to wish his Grandpa a Happy 60th Birthday! It was a great party with lots of friends and family. Joshua really had a good time visiting with his Aunts. Here are some pictures of the event.
Also over the weekend Joshua got to spend time with his Grandottie, Aunts and Uncles, all his cousins, and his Grandaddy. He especially had fun playing with Alec and Eli. They even showed him how to fly a kite!
Joshua's mommy and daddy were sick all weekend so that part was not fun. And Joshua was not at 100% which made the drive back a pretty slow one. It was still a great weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

All by myself!
This morning I was holding Joshua and picking out his outfit for church. As I was searching through his bibs, he reached into the drawer and grabbed one. Here are a couple pictures of our happy little man in the bib he picked out all by himself!
Also Joshua is getting another tooth. His bottom left tooth (which is still coming in) will soon have a buddy next to it (his bottom right tooth). Maybe he'll get a break before any more come in.
